Advanced NVH simulation software

The Ricardo Software suite of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) products includes some state-of-the-art NVH simulation and analysis capabilities. These tools are available both to the Ricardo NVH team to use on client projects as well as to external licensees.

WAVE:

  • A state-of-the-art solution for engine performance simulation and one dimensional gas dynamics modelling that is an emerging de-facto international standard CAE tool
  • Fully capable as an intake and exhaust noise prediction tool – widely used in the NVH and sound quality optimization of powertrain products
  • Modelling of the dynamic pressure distribution inside duct systems allows engineers to understand the link between geometry and acoustic behaviour

VALDYN:

  • An advanced dynamics modelling package for complex mechanical systems
  • Developed with the specific needs of engine valve train and drive systems but capable of characterizing a wide range of systems
  • Excellent tool for the vibratory development of engine systems including timing drive belts, gear and chain systems

ENGDYN:

  • A fully coupled structural dynamics simulation of the crankshaft and cylinder block, capable of predicting engine radiated sound and vibratory performance
  • Analysis of the strain energy resulting from flexural behaviour can help designers investigate and improve specific engine structure issues
