Efficient-C - Ricardo responsible for system implementation and control strategy development for Full Hybrid Diesel vehicle
The Program
- Efficient-C was a partnership, including Ricardo, PSA Peugeot Citroen and QinetiQ with funding from all partners and from UK Government Energy Savings Trust
- 30 month programme culminating in the delivery of a management quality demonstrator vehicle

Project Achievements
- 30% improvement in fuel consumption (combined) and CO2 emissions relative to current state-of-the-art diesel vehicle
- 99g/km CO2 in Berlingo = 75mpg
- 90g/km in C segment saloon
- 5 door, C-class technology demonstrated on a large B-class platform
- Conventional fuel used – diesel
- Euro IV emissions over NEDC with DPF
- Class leading comfort and safety
- Mass production capable Range, based on European drive cycle with 60 litre tank = 990 miles (1593 km)
- 0-60 mph (0-100 kph) less than 13 seconds
- 5 km to 10 km electric only range
